The mane idea


It’s thought that lions used to be the most widespread terrestrial mammal on the planet. This story, which comes from the audio series One Species at a Time, is a testament to their surprising physical diversity.

Lions -- among countless other creatures -- prowl about the books and documents of the Biodiversity Heritage Library.
