Extracts from the past, present and future of chemistry.
I guest host this episode of Distillations , and consider the chemistry of the ocean. We travel to an underwater laboratory off the coast of Key West to learn how carbon dioxide is dissolving the world’s coral reef ecosystems. And we board the Pontoon Boat of Science off the Oregon coast to see how researchers are using light to study the seas. Featured on 10 June 2011.

Oh Ari, It sounds so professional! Nicely done and what an interesting story! I love how you raise awareness of organizations and people that would otherwise not be known to the general public. Well done Ari.

hi Ari, after discovering and utterly digging One Species podcasts–which I gather ended a few years ago?–I’m trying to subscribe for more. But Ocean Gazing seems to be unavailable via iTunes store, got message “not available in the U.S. store”…..?? How do I dig in and subscribe to your other/ongoing podcasts? cheers, Randy in Austin

Thanks very much for your note! I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed listening to One Species at a Time. Yes, the series did end a few years ago. In theory, we could have gone on forever!
As for Ocean Gazing, here’s a link: http://www.oceangazing.org
Also, I’m not sure if you’re interested, but I’ve got an email list called [ari air]. I use it to alert folks of special stories and projects that I’m working on. It’s an email a couple times per year — very occasional traffic, like a country road. I’d be happy to add you if you like. If not, no problem!
